FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
With LEVELIT tile leveling systems, you can install floors and walls faster, more accurately, and without height differences between adjacent tiles. The systems keep tiles perfectly aligned while the adhesive cures, prevent movement, and ensure a flat, professional finish.
- How does a tile leveling system work?
A tile leveling system consists of clips and wedges or clips and twist caps that are used during tile installation. The system brings adjacent tiles to the same height, prevents lippage, and ensures a perfectly flat tile surface with a consistent joint width.
- When should I use a tile leveling system?
A tile leveling system is recommended for almost all tile installations, especially when working with large-format tiles, rectified tiles, and narrow joints. The system helps align tiles perfectly and ensures a clean, professional finish for both floor and wall tiles.
- What is the difference between a wedge system and a turn system?
Both the wedge system and the turn system ensure a perfectly flat tile surface, but they differ in application. With a wedge system, pressure is created by sliding a wedge into a clip, usually using leveling pliers. This system is particularly suitable for large surfaces and provides powerful leveling performance. With a turn system, pressure is created by tightening a turn cap onto the clip. No pliers are required, and the pressure can be easily adjusted by hand. The turn system is therefore often chosen for wall tile installations.
Wedge system
The wedge system uses a wedge that is inserted into a clip between two tiles. Using leveling pliers, the wedge is tightened so that the tiles are brought to the same height. This system is ideal for larger surfaces and thick (XL) tiles. It offers maximum control and pressure for a perfectly finished result.Turn system
The turn system consists of a clip and a cap. The clip is placed under the tile and the cap is tightened until the tiles are perfectly level. Since no pliers are required, this system is particularly convenient for wall tile installations.Which one should you choose?
The choice between a wedge system and a turn system mainly depends on your tile type, working environment, and personal preference. Both systems guarantee a level surface with a consistent joint width. - Which tile leveling system do I need?
The choice depends on the tile type and tile thickness. The standard Levelit system is suitable for most floor and wall tiles, the XL system is designed for thick tiles and outdoor tiles, the HELIX system is ideal for wall tile installations, and the Tiling Buddy system is perfect for smaller tile projects and DIY applications.
