- Which spike length do I need?
The correct spike length depends on the thickness of the self-levelling compound. The thicker the layer, the longer the spikes should be to remove trapped air throughout the entire depth.
- 2–5 mm layer thickness: 11 mm spikes
- 5–15 mm layer thickness: 21 mm spikes
- 15–25 mm layer thickness: 31 mm spikes
Always choose a spike length that matches the applied layer thickness. Spikes that are too short will not reach deeper air pockets, while spikes that are too long may contact the subfloor and affect the finish.
- Which roller width should I choose?
The ideal roller width depends on the size and accessibility of the area.
- 230 mm spiked roller: Ideal for small rooms, bathrooms, stairs, and confined spaces. Offers excellent control along edges and corners.
- 250 mm spiked roller: The most versatile choice for residential and medium-sized projects, providing the perfect balance between manoeuvrability and productivity.
- 500 mm spiked roller: Designed for large floor areas of approximately 50 m² or more, significantly increasing productivity on larger projects.

- Why use a spiked roller with self-levelling compounds?
A spiked roller removes trapped air from freshly applied self-levelling compounds and resin floors. During mixing and application, small air bubbles can become trapped in the material and affect the final finish.
Rolling over the wet compound immediately after application releases these air bubbles, allowing the material to flow more evenly, creating a smoother surface and reducing the risk of imperfections. The result is a flat, high-quality subfloor ready for the next stage of installation.
- Which telescopic pole fits my spiked roller?

Clean the spiked roller immediately after use with plenty of clean water. Self-levelling compounds harden quickly and can build up between the spikes, reducing the roller’s performance.
Thoroughly rinse both the spikes and the frame, removing any residue before it hardens. Allow the roller to dry completely before storing it. Proper cleaning and maintenance will preserve the spikes, extend the tool’s lifespan, and ensure consistent performance on future projects.
