Remove the spacers once the tile adhesive has cured by carefully pulling them out of the joint by hand, with pliers, or using a utility knife. Always remove the spacers before grouting so the joints can be completely filled with grout.
The number required depends on the tile size and laying pattern. Smaller tiles require more spacers than large-format tiles. To avoid running short during installation, it is recommended to have extra spacers available. For most tiling projects, a pack of 100 to 250 tile spacers is sufficient for several square metres, although smaller tiles will require a higher quantity than large-format tiles.
